Not sure what to do

So we have court on the 26th and Alex is already 7 and been in public school but he isn't doing the greatest in math and reading so we think if we get custody we are going to home school. We thin it will help make it more personal and it's proven home schooled students do better in the life time and get into better colleges.And when we have a baby we can start teaching them before there born and as soon as they are born. It's proven children learn more when there are younger and if you continue it they will retain it through out life also. So it seems like a great idea right? I hope I can handle it though Mat is working a lot 10-15 hr days 5-6 days a week and only a couple weeks left until court!!!! It's rough on Mat not being able to see Alex and her games and BS she puts him through. Hopefully it will all be over soon and we will get Alex and he will be much better off and much better cared for! We can't do anything though for now just wait and see I guess......
